(See SM-VA 004 - 2.10 - Fall protection) All areas where the danger of falls exists or will present over the course of the work must be secured immediately with suitable measures. If that is impossible, the crash sites must be secured at a distance of 2 m from the edge, and marked with the warning notice "fall hazard". In the event the fall hazard area is entered due to work, safety gear must be worn. At ArcelorMittal Bremen, only safety harnesses are allowed. They consist of a safety harness, a fall absorber, and - if necessary - a safety rope. Violations of these regulations may lead to banning from the plant site. Safeguards at sites in danger of crashing may be removed only after consulting with and approval by ArcelorMittal Bremen. Unauthorized removal might be followed by a ban from the plant site.
