(See SM-VA 010 - Written work permit) For the performance of work at the plant site of ArcelorMittal Bremen, our partner companies need a work permit. The supervisors are responsible for work not starting prior to the issuing of a work permit. With their signatures, they confirm that their employees left the danger zone upon completion or interruption of work. The work permit includes information on the job assignment, the proper performance of the work, possible hazards, and applicable protective measures, and must be carried while on site. The work permit does not relieve our partners from the legal obligation of determining hazards, to determine and initiate protective measures for their employees. for work in narrow spaces and containers (BGR 117, section 4.1.4) and for welding and work with open flame in fire hazard areas, special permits must be issued ("work in narrow spaces and containers", and "Work with open flame"). They comprise measures that must be performed prior to work and must be followed. Special permits are not required if the written work permit gives a detailed and in-depth description of possible hazards and the applicable measures.
