(See SM-VA 004 - 1.6 - handling of hazardous materials) Handling of hazardous materials and preparations and their packaging must comply with the legal regulations, and marked correspondingly. Use of hazardous materials must be reported in a timely manner with presentation of the corresponding safety data sheets (in German). If necessary, required safety measures must be coordinated. When performing work, the contractor is responsible for duty of care concerning the hazardous materials. If hazardous material is released, suspected, or detected while performing work, ARCELOR BREMEN must be notified immediately. Regulations of hazardous materials law must be followed. In the event the services of the contractor comprise the removal of the incidental material, the respective regulations of the environmental law/ labor law must be observed. Working in hazardous material contaminated areas Prior to the start of work, it must be clarified whether contamination with hazardous material must be expected. Handling of carcinogenic, genetic material altering, or reproduction jeopardizing materials. Work including the handling of carcinogenic, genetic material altering, or reproduction-jeopardizing materials must be reported. The same is applicable for proof of required special knowledge, technical safety equipment, and trained personnel. Notifications of authorities remain unaffected. In the event persons have contact with carcinogenic, genetic material altering, reproduction jeopardizing materials, all required physicals, and safety instructions must be performed prior to start of work.
